Alexandre Gonthier
Founder & CEO Trustly
Alex is the Founder & CEO of Trustly, Inc., the successor to PayWithMyBank, Inc., which he started incubating in 2011 in New York, founded in 2012 in Silicon Valley, and merged with European-based Trustly AB in 2019. Alex is from Switzerland, so it's no surprise he's a money expert. Since 1997, he has been a founder and entrepreneur, building several successful payments companies. Prior to PayWithMyBank/Trustly, Alex was CEO and co-founder of iPIN (acquired by Aepona and, subsequently, by Intel Corp.), a leading digital payments platform for Visa, Wells Fargo, HSBC, AT&T, Verizon, Vodafone, Orange, BT, and GM. Alex was also the CTO of mobile payments company Paymo, which merged with Boku (LON: BOKU), the global leader in carrier billing-based mobile payments fueling customers like Amazon, Apple, EA, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Netflix, Sky, Spotify, Tencent, and Sony. As CEO and Director of digital ticketing platforms Trinity Mobile and Ticketscript (now part of Eventbrite, NYSE: EB), he learned firsthand about payments from the merchant acceptance perspective. Alex was previously an Advisor to private equity firm 3i (LON: III) and a Venture Partner at venture capital firm Wellington Partners in London, with investments including BuyVIP, acquired by Amazon, and Ruckus Wireless, which went public on Nasdaq and is now part of ARRIS (NASDAQ: ARRS).
